If you are
a student reaching the end of class 10, one of the most prevalent concerns on
your mind is probably, "Now what's next?" The very first step towards
deciding what you should do next is to understand that not everyone knows their
path. Some students discover their passions and talents early in life, while
others just discover when there is any specific need. With a multitude of
career options at your disposal, countless colleges and universities to attend,
it can be hard to narrow down which course of study. If you have prepared
yourself to study MBBS in India then, it is necessary to start your early
preparation for NEET.
The National
Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level medical
entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates
who pass the NEET can enroll in MBBS/BDS/Ayush courses at many prestigious
Indian institutes.
Studying
for NEET is not a one-time activity. It is a continuous process that starts
from the moment you make your dream career future as a doctor. As the test has
become the country's unified medical entrance exam, more than 16 lakh
applicants have enrolled for the NEET in 2021. NEET has become a marathon of
sorts in recent years, with the number of applicants has been increasing with
every exam held. In this article, KIMA has listed a two-year study plan for
NEET.

Plan from KIMA
1.
Be ready with the syllabus
The NEET
syllabus is broad. It covers three broad subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and
Biology from classes 11 and 12. Start preparing for NEET by printing the
syllabus and carry it with you to study. Refer to it every time you want to
plan your study schedule or before starting your preparation for a particular
topic.
2.
Choose the apt books and materials
Since the
NEET syllabus is pretty vast, you need multiple books to prepare thoroughly.
Choose at least 2 books that are known for their comprehensive coverage of all
major topics as per the latest NEET syllabus. In addition to books, find a few
question banks that have a good number of questions based on each topic to practice,
and test your understanding of concepts while studying each chapter.
3.
Make a study schedule
Make a
plan that you can follow. Set small goals and long-term goals. Plan how much
time you will spend studying each day. Studies show that people learn better
when they study in blocks of 2 or 3 hours rather than trying to study for too
many hours at a time. Try to mix things up by studying different subjects on
different days. For example, study biology and chemistry one day, then biology
and physics the next day. Keep working toward your goal. When you have a plan
and a goal, you are more likely to meet them. Stick to your plan faithfully,
and don't skip days!
4.
Avoid needless distractions
Remove any
needless distractions so that you can focus on your studies. Turn off your
phone or keep it in silent mode while studying so that your concentration is
not disturbed. You might be tempted to check social media notifications or text
messages during study time which will waste crucial time. It is best not to
check social media while preparing for the NEET exam. This way, you will avoid
any unnecessary distractions and be able to stay focused on your
preparation.
5.
Practice makes your preparation perfect
Learn and
understand all topics thoroughly before moving forward with the next topic.
Practice as many problems as possible and clarify any doubts or questions with
your teachers or tutors. You should also use different sources to boost your
knowledge, such as books and online resources.
6.
Make a list of everything you need to remember
Make sure
that you understand everything that's taught in class. It is also important to
ensure that you don't forget anything. Start by taking notes in class so that
you can refer back to them when it comes time to study. You should also review
your notes every day after class for a few minutes. It helps you to keep the
information fresh in your mind. This will help with retention later on down the
road when preparing for NEET exam dates and others.
7.
Analyze your tests and learn from your errors
Don't
just take tests, analyze them and learn from your errors. Taking mock tests
without analysis would not help you to improve your performance. After taking
the mock test, go through the entire test paper. Identify all types of questions
that you have faced in the test and note them to create a blueprint. If you
have made any mistake while solving any type of question, then make a note of
it and work on it so that you don't make that mistake again while solving
questions based on the same concept.
8.
Maintain your discipline and consistency
NEET
requires absolute discipline and consistency in each aspect of preparation - be
it study time or number of hours devoted per subject or chapter, revision
schedule, test schedule, etc. Make sure that you follow a consistent schedule
for each task and don't skip anything unless necessary.
